English Name:- Shankh Pushpi

Botanical Name:- Convolvulus pluricaulis

Family:- CONVOLVULACEAE.

Parts- Used:- Whole plant, Roots, Leaves and Flowers.

Habit:- A small prostrate creeping herb, branches pubescent, flowers white.

Taste:- Bitter

Chemical Constituents:- Plant Contains:- Alkaloid shankhpushpin (Active compounds)  Essential Oil, Methyl pentos, Scamonolic acid and Palmitin acid, Phytosterol, Ipuranol,  Sucrose Reducing sugars, starch and Olein.

Actions:- Brain, Tonic, Laxative, Stomachic, Anthelmintic, Spasmolytic.

Used In:- Effective on brain and heart, Positive effect on blood pressure of acetylcolonine, Reduces blood pressure and tension, increases memory, Effective on  Thyroid high secretion; useful in mental disease, Epilepsy, Insomnia and Venum.

  • It is used as a brain tonic and improves memory.
