Botanical Name:- Citrus medica

Family:- RUTACEAE.

Parts Used:- Fruit

Habit:- Small throny shrubby tree, 5-10 feet high, leaf with winged petiole and white flowers 3 to 10 in axil of leaf.

Taste:- Sour

Chemical Constituents:- Fruit Contains: Ascorbic acid, Fructose, Glucose, Sucrose,  Pectin, Jasmonic acid, Eriodictyol, Rutinosides, Flower bud contains: Amino acids;  Leaves: Bergaptin, Citropten Eriocitrin, Limettin, Deoxyribonucleic acid and starch; Leaf oil contains: Citronellal, Citronellol Geranial, Limonene. Lnalool, Myrecene, Ocimene.

Actions:- Antiseptic, Appitizer, Astringent, Digestive, Stomachic, Anthelmintic, Diuretic, Antipyretic, Anti-thirst.

Used In:- Liver troubles, scorbutic, in vomiting, Burning sensation, Cough, Throat disorder, Colic, Tuberculosis, Arthritis, Anthelmintic; Juice of fruit is used as Refrigerant drink and allaying thirst, useful in Diarrhoea and Fever.• Lemon juice is frequently used in dental care. It removes toothache and stops gum bleeding and eliminates bad odors caused by various gum diseases.
