English Name:- Large Caltrops.

Botanical Name:- Pedalium murex Linn.

Family:- PEDALIACEAE.

Parts- Used:- Leaves and fruits.

Habit:- A small much branched and rough herb with scaly glands. Leaves opposite, fleshy, ovate-oblong, Crenate-serate. Flowers bright yellow, axillary solatory. Fruit-Capsule hard with horizontal spines from the four angles.

Taste:- Tasteless.

Chemical Constituents:- Fruits Contains:- Alkaloid, Fat, Resin.

Actions:- Oily, Anti-spasmodic, Diuretic, Tonic, Aphrodisiac, Rejuvenator, Stomachic.

Used In:- Gonorrhea, Arthritis, Burning during urination, Spermatorrhea, Disuria, Piles, Leucoderma.
