Emblic Myrobalan or Amla

English Name:- Emblic Myrobalan.

Botanical Name:- Emblica officinalis

Family:- EUPHORBIACEAE.

Parts- Used:- Fruits and Seeds.

Habit:- A medium sized tree, leaves small looking like tamarindus leaves, Flowers unisexual creamish yellow & small.

Taste:- Sour, Astringent, Sweet.

Chemical Constituents:- Fruit Contains: Protein, Fats, Fibres, Carbohydrates, Vitamin-C, Nicotinic acid, Tannins; Afterdying it contains Gallic acid, Ellagic acid and Flavin & Glucose, Seeds contains- Linolenic acid and Oleic acid.

Actions:- Tonic, Diuretic, Astringent, Cooling, Antifungal, Laxative, Liver tonic.

Used In:- Haemorrhage, Diabetes, Polyuria, Headache,  Hysteria, Jaundice, Eczema, Disuria, Piles, Diarrhea, Cold, Menorrhagia, Scurvy. 

Main Usages Of Emblic Myrobalan

  • It is reputed as a powerful rejuvenating herb containing highest vitamin c, 20 times more than orange juice.
  • It helps proper functioning of liver, spleen, pancreas, heart and lungs.
  • It cures anemia , jaundice, hemorrhage, asthma, bronchitis and insomnia.
